Cycling Around The Golden Isles
Located just off the south of the 'Presque-ile' of Hyeres, are three islands translated into English as 'The Golden Isles'; Porquerolles, Port-Cros, Ile du Levant. I spent a day cycling around Porquerolles, and then we took the boat across in order to explore the other two.
I spent most of my time in the largest of the three islands, Porquerolles. It's most famous beach, Plage Notre Dame, is possibly one of my favourite beaches I've seen. It was slightly tricky to get to, either by boat or a 30 minutes walk from the port but this was good because it kept the number of tourists down. It was also lovely to spend some time wandering around the main town of the island which is so small that I don't believe it even has a name! There were plenty of places to eat and drink, grab an ice-cream or even buy a souvenir or two.
