Hola Aigua Blava

Hola Aigua Blava

Before heading to Barcelona, I got the chance to spend a few days in the beautiful coastal resort of Aigua Blava. It was my first time here, but Mum had been here before so I kind of knew what to expect. Little did I know how much I would actually love it.

Situated about 130km north of Barcelona, along the Costa Brava coastline, Aigua Blava is a hidden gem. As I came from Barcelona airport, it took me about 3 hours by bus, but I know that it would have been much shorter driving it by car or arriving from Gerona airport. The resort is focused around a bay, a short drive from the touristy town of Begur.

I stayed with a friend from university whose family owned an apartment which had private access to this gorgeous natural rock pool. It was possibly one of the most beautiful pool's that I've had the opportunity to swim in. Also, as their family had been going here every year for over 50 years, they also had access to the fabulous Aigua Blava Hotel, with breathtaking views over the bay.

I had such a lovely stay here, and it's somewhere I'd love to return to again. Those that come here one holiday tend to return again and again, year after year, and I think that's always a sign that you've found somewhere special.
