A Stay At Babington House
Last weekend, after settling back into life at home, Mum and I decided that we should do something just the two of us before I headed of to university. We both agreed to find ourselves somewhere where we could spend a couple of days relaxing, hanging out by a pool, and reading our books surrounded by good food. One place that ticked all these boxes and that wasn't too far away by car was Babington House, just south of Bath. Part of the Soho House chain, Babington is beautiful.
It's a popular spot for a wedding, with several high-profile couples getting married here over the last year, including a relative of mine. The landscape is the perfect setting, and the interior of the house could not be more my taste. It's glamorous and chic, inspired by the neutrals of the surrounding countryside.
We had a lovely bedroom, and a heavenly bathroom. The beds were the cosiest I've ever slept in, and I loved the more-comfy-than-you-can-imagine velvet sofa where I could curl up in the evenings on my laptop. The rooms come fully stocked with every thing you could ever need including a teddy bear like dressing gown, hair straighteners, magazines and a hot-water bottle.
The food was brilliant, we ate in the bar for lunch and then reserved ourselves a table for supper in the orangery. During the day, you can curl up in one of the many sitting-rooms, sunbathe by the pool, watch a film in the cinema, go for a workout in the gym, treat yourself to a massage or a manicure in the Cowshed Spa, go for a wander around the walled garden, or go for a long walk or cycle in the surrounding countryside. You could even play a match of croquet! The possibilities are endless!
There isn't a bad word to be said about Babington other than the fact that it's rather pricey, but it really is a hidden gem. I honestly cannot wait to return, whether that be again with Mum, some girlfriends or as a couple. Babs, you're something special.
